Sound daunting? It’s not! Here’s how in five steps.
1 Choose the Style and Scope of Your Event
Shows can be as simple as a low-key gathering with drinks and presentations in your living room, followed by an “on invitation only” open house for additional viewing of paintings. They can be as elaborate as a gala dinner kick-off at your Club, church or local museum, where the artwork will remain on public display for a designated period.
To increase awareness for institutional events, Jill would be pleased to participate in pre-show gatherings that could include lectures, a live painting demonstration or a hands-on painting workshop.
2 Defend a Cause
Art is about sharing and has the power to mobilize people. Allow your favorite charity to raise awareness for their cause at your event, invite their network of followers, and benefit from a portion of the proceeds of art sales. A shared cause will give added purpose to your show and increase turn-out.
3 Pick Your Venue
The choice of location should be in accordance with the style and scope of your event. It could be a private home or club; a local church, community center, professional locale or museum.
4 Set the Date
Jill will work closely with you and your selected non-profit to choose the dates for the show. It is important that they do not conflict with any other major events in your area and give enough planning time to organize the show. This can range from one or two months for informal gatherings, to six months to a year for more elaborate affairs.
5 Get the word Out
Jill can provide you with printed invitations and e-vite templates to be sent by you and/or your chosen charity. Depending on the type of event being planned, announcements could be made on social media, through local media outlets, and on the website of your non-profit or other participating sponsors.
