Bastille Day Sale

July 14th - July 31st - 25% off a selected body of work
To celebrate the French national holiday, I am reflecting on the notion of liberté. This year I am particularly reminded of this word’s significance as it relates to my art mentor Leo Marchutz and the trials he faced as a German national in France during WWII.

I was introduced to the artwork and teachings of Leo Marchutz when I was 20 years old. Soon thereafter, he became the guiding light and inspiration of my artistic journey. His art and philosophy on the creative process formed a strong foundation for me. I embraced it then and I still believe in the truth of his vision.

In 2019, an ambitious project by the name of the Leo Marchutz Catalogue Raisonné began. Its mission is to reference the work of Leo Marchutz began in order to preserve his legacy for future generations. Thanks to the involvement of volunteers and the generosity of donors, this project has made phenomenal progress over the past five years, including the production of a recent documentary entitled “Leo Marchutz & Lithography”, directed by my son James Ruffato. I hope you will take a moment to watch this short film and to learn more about one of the 20th century’s most important, unrecognized artists.

This summer I am planning an online sale event, and to show my support for the Leo Marchutz Catalogue Raisonné I will be giving a portion of the proceeds to support the ongoing efforts of this important project.
